Biking in Astoria

Great bike carries

A truly great bike carry requires a bike or rack designed to carry truly great things. A comment just pointed me to this guy. I don’t know him from Adam, but I hope he’s nice. How could a guy making bike racks not be nice?

Plus he has great struts… always the weak link in any heavy carry.

  1. Hey, thanks! Good to hear you like my work. Much appreciated.

Here’s a movie about me and what I do:

Check out is fully self designed Cargo bike too. As with you, I don’t know him from Adam. Just a link to him from Ant Bike Mike. Oh ANT bike, I covet thee.

By the way, I saw Bluebird going over the Queens Bridge one morning about a month ago. (Maybe more?) I almost yelled “Hi, Bluebird!” but figured that would freak her out. So I just kept pedaling. (Nice bike by the way.) Then, the following weekend I saw your beater locked outside RiteAid on 30th Ave. Your bikes are sort of famous in Astoria.

Thanks, John. That’s funny! “Sort of famous in Astoria” is kind of like being a second-rate rock star in Germany, I guess.

Top five locations my Queens bike can be found:

    1) The Greek store and/or vegetables stands on 30th Ave between 32nd and 33rd Streets,
    2) Trade Fair on 30th Ave,
    3) Grand Ave Liquor,
    4) Bohemian Beer Hall,
and 5) and most often …locked outside my house.

I do feel compelled to point out that though locations 1-3 are embarrassingly close to home… yes, I still bike there 9 times out of 10.

As long as you don’t LOOK like David Hasselhoff… lol

I placed an order for one of the five rails with the new struts last Friday. I think he is backordered for a bit. He has to make some more. I will keep you updated.

    Goodbye Wald basket!

And there is no such thing as too close to bike to…

I ordered one of Lane’s 5 rail racks Dec 15th. I still don’t have it. I don’t fault him for it since it is a one man operation and he is growing right now. I do want the rack though. Then I can trash the shitty Wald basket. I will let you know when I get it.
