Biking in Astoria

Read a book

Why? Because it’s good for you. Builds character. Be real cool and read it in actual book form. Be super real cool and do so while riding your bike. Here’s the book: In the City of Bikes: The Story of the Amsterdam Cyclist. It’s by Pete Jordan. You may know him from Dishwasher fame. I…

Granny Rap

Plenty to do in Amsterdam… thanks to GVB, Amsterdam public transportation. But I’m posting this because it may be the slickest ad ever for public transportation (with the old Detroit People Mover song as a close second).

55 km to Amsterdam

A post with great pictures showing biking in The Netherlands, to Amsterdam. I wish I could bike the same distance–say from New Brunswick, NJ–with such ease and beauty. And on such a whim.

Amsterdam (2)

I’m in Amsterdam, trying to remember to take some pictures. There are so many sights that seem unremarkable to people who live here. But I’ve been gone for a while so things like this stand out. These pictures are from parts of town you won’t see on postcards. Here’s an average Dutch street with an…
