Did you read the comments on astorians.com? Not a lot of bicyclists there I guess…
The person that passed away was a customer….we worked on his bike a lot of times…and as in any good neighborhood bike shop…we became friends…Artouro was a gentleman and always with a smile…I am really sad to see that noone, nowhere yet wrote anything about that…We -me and my co mechanic- are going to make a ghost bike for that corner in memory of Artouro…Anyone interested let us know through this blog…Thanks for the wine Artouro…We’ll always remember you….
Arturo Flores was a great man. I came back from Interbike to hear the sad news from a friend, I now have to walk past the spot were he was killed everyday and it just irks me. I can’t believe that he is now gone. We won’t see his smile every time he walks into the shop anymore and just that saddens me. If anyone has any information on funeral services for Arturo please contact me at tonysbicycles@yahoo.com, I would like to say goodbye.
I would also like to extend my condolences to his family and friends – be just as strong as he was.
Rest in peace Arturo,
Frankie
Man, when I said “rumor,” I was kind of hoping it wasn’t true.
I didn’t know Arturo Flores, but goddamnit, I do know a lot of good people. And any one of them could get hit and killed by a car. It just don’t make sense.
I hope you hear something. But to be honest, I just doubt this blog has the readership that you will hear something. But if you do, please let me know.
And I am interested in helping with a ghost bike. Please leave a comment to let me (and others) know how.
Arturo’s wake will be held tonight (10/23) at the Rivera Funeral home. The funeral home is located at 104-02 37th Avenue in Corona, Queens.
