Car on Bike Path
I was crossing the Queensboro bridge tonight at around 12:30, heading home toward Astoria when I heard a motor behind me. No, it wasn’t a moped. It was a car. And no, it wasn’t an unmarked police car. It was a car, going to Queens. I’m glad it didn’t kill me.
No doubt, as I was biking safely and legally and courteously on a bike path, the driver now thinks much more highly of me in particular and bicyclists in general. For that, we can all give a hearty cheer.

Scary!
There’s also gang of crotch rocket riders that go on the path sometimes.
The car was on the side bike/walk path? How could it even fit?
It used to be a traffic line. Just like on the south side of the bridge. It is plenty wide… so…
Just drive right on. There's nothing to stop you… except common sense (and the U-turn on the Manhattan side is a doozy).
But think of it from the driver's side. You're on 1st Ave and miss the turn to the bridge. If you don't drive on the bike path, you'd have to go, yes, ALL THE WAY AROUND THE BLOCK before being able to get on the bridge to queens.
