My bike died yesterday…
…Or was it today. I discovered a crack in the frame of my most beloved bike. My Bianchi Alphana. A real crack. On the lug near the bottom bracket of the downtube. It goes all the way around. It’s very sad.
More later.

Bummer. Hope you’ve got a spare bike or can at least get riding on something else…
Nowhere as close, but my rear derailleur met a plastic bag last week on my way into work. The plastic bag won. Luckily just the derailleur and hanger found their way to the scrap heap in the sky…
I do have a spare bike (or three). So it’s nothing urgent. It’s just sad.
I really do appreciate your concern!
A similar thing happened to my bike and the folks at Chelsea bikes were able to repair it. It cost maybe $150 but it was a dearly loved frame and I couldn’t bare to trash it.

Good Luck.

Thanks Peter, but I wish I heard from you earlier! I called them and indeed they can fix it for around $150.
Too bad my bike is already getting put on a new frame (including a new carbon fork with will cost as much as getting my beloved old frame fixed). Well, still, maybe this way I can build something new. Maybe save my fixed gear *and* have a fast one-speed.
