A lesson learned in this cruel world
I was biking back home on the Queensboro bridge and saw a man in bikers’ gear walking, holding the large thick kryptonite chain in one hand and two nice bike wheels in the other. I suppose he’ll learn the importance of locking the frame with his next bike. Poor guy.

This is a great bike blog. I’ve biked for 5 years in NYC but never crossed the Queensboro Bridge, and I want to today. Could you perhaps mention how to access the path coming from Manhattan?
I can’t find instructions online anywhere!

Access on the Manhattan side is at 1st Ave and 60th St. Ignore all the unwelcoming signs.
The path isn’t as nice since they fenced in the view, but it’s still probably second only to the Manhattan Bridge path.
On the Queens side, if you don’t want to backtrack, and depending on where you’re coming from, you can go north to the Triborough Bridge or south to Brooklyn and the Williamsburg Bridge.
On the Queens’ side, to go north continue straight (the wrong way into traffic) one block. Make the 1st left (27th St).
